The third painting in my series of small paintings started on a new style panel for me. Pre primed and extremely smooth.
again started by directly drawing on the panel I also went back to a traditional thin glaze to start off.
very much noticing the difference between this surface and initial glaze than my technique with ‘Cat Drivin a Fish’. This surface and prep doesn’t offer much ‘tooth’.
Even at this point I’m noting that I will need two full passes to get the consistency of coverage and shading accuracy.
Knowing that I’m doing two passes I don’t sweat the detail as much as I normally would.
I’m really starting to settle on my preferred technique and procedures for this new style. That being said I’m going to play around with new mediums in my next piece.
